The Hampton is the only motel that is full most every night in this town and
I recommend it to everyone. All my family & friends stay there when they
visit.

Make sure to reserve early this place is real popular thankfully mostly with
the older folks so getting sleep is never a problem..

BTW: it's about 3 minutes from the track..

New track is going in as I post for the Thunder race...

The track director has lowered the price to $20.00 first class & $10.00 for
the second class..

It doesn't get any better then racing on the beach during Spring Break
with about 3000 skantaly dressed spectators watching a great R/C race

This will be a must to race at race, don't miss it guys Spring Break R/C
racing at it's finest"

Probably very true, but it is next to imposible to hold a big race and not be
on top of another big race. Plus Spring Break only happens once a year and
having close to 3000 spectators watching R/C racing for the first time from
all over the country grows this sport/hobby alot more then a big race with
no first time spectators. Only having fellow racers watching you doesn't do
much to help grow R/C racing...

A big race with so many first time spectators is very important to grow our
sport/hobby... and the eye candy doesn't hurt from are side of the fence
either...LOL"

Enjoy your race, I know we all will here at the beach...

Default Thunder by the Water 2011

Here is a short vid of the layout we raced on this weekend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4USn4k_11U

This oldie but goodie race went off without a hitch, This race ended back in 2005, but 2011 brought it back for a great turnout and some great weather. The race wrapped up in about 12 hours, going from 9 to 9, with 75 entries, temps around 75, and little wind all day, It was ideal racing weather. We might be pushing this race out to a 2 day race next year to keep the long race days down to a minimum. This new track layout made for some of the best racing havasu has ever seen. With lap times in the mid to low 30's for the expert drivers(some of the fastest guys besting low 29's high 28's with 1/8 buggy) It has proved to be one of our best layouts to date. Some of the more noteable races were 1/8 buggy, and 2wd SC

2wd Sc was a 10 minute race with 10 drivers 2 bumps from the b main. On the pole was Mike Bilbia, Jason Miller 2nd, and Stacy Pike Starting 3rd. Immediately off the start Chris Miller took over 3rd and the top 3 broke away from the pack for the first 5 minutes of the race. It was a freight train for 2 more minutes when chris made a mistake and that left jason and mike to fight it out, Mike led until the 8:20 mark when he had a bad line through the rhythem section, and jason took over the lead, but the next lap mike got the lead back when jason made the same mistake mike did and lost the lead, It came down to .6 seconds at the end, and mike took the win.

1/8 Buggy was also a 10 car field, 30 minute main. Jessie Robinson started on the pole, Jason Miller 2nd, and Stacey Pike started 3rd. In the first corner on lap 1 jessie rolled it over and ended up last having to make his way up through the pack. Jason took a 15 second lead by the 10 minute mark, and jessie had made his way back up to 2nd. After pit stop #2 The gap was less than 10 seconds, and a bad corner and an unlucky bounce put jason over the board of the track, and giving jessie a 5 second lead. When it was all said and done there was only a 12 second gap between 1st and 2nd, Jessie Taking home the win. After a 30 minute main, buggy tires still looked like brand new, thanks to the forgiving damp track surface.

Almost everyone went home with either hardware or handouts. Big thanks to our sponsors Pro-Line Racing, Pro-Match Racing, Hotrock Hobbies, Team Associated, and Morgan Fuels.

Some pictures were taken of the open classes podiums
