The new track gets broken in on the first day of practice. Trackside installed brand new boards for this race, replacing their old foam islands.
The Novak race draws huge crowds every year, and 2004 was no exception: Trackside was absolutely packed for the mains on Sunday. In fact, even with the Packers in a playoff game, all eyes were watching the track and not the TVs!
The pit area, of course, was bustling! With close to 200 racers, Trackside was bursting at the seams. Next year, pit areas will be available in a basement area as well.
You know that Mike Reedy must be nearby when a pit table has this many low-wind Reedy motors sitting on it!
Also new at Trackside is RC Scoring Pro, a brand-new scoring software. Still in development, RC Scoring Pro was run alongside Autoscore for the duration of the race, providing everybody with ultra-cool scoreboards (like the one on this track-side monitor) and a BetaBrite board that flashed lap times as cars crossed the loop.
