The small plates are used to change the car's roll center; typically a lower roll center for foam carpet racing, and higher for rubber or outdoors. More of Cyrul's car.  If you look closely, you can see that Josh has removed every other tooth from the front differential pulley to help free up the drivetrain.  He says this works well in the front, but only try it in the rear if you are running stock or 19T; in modified, the rear belt can get eaten up rather quickly. (Click to enlarge)
