INTRODUCTION >>> As the Summer heat dwindles and the leaves begin to fall each year, it can only mean one thing for R/C road racers: it's time to head indoors! Nitro cars are quickly packed away, 1/12th scales are pulled out from the closet, and everybody starts to talk about the upcoming carpet season.
In past years, the Octoberfast race in Minnesota heralded the beginning of the season, but after TCHR closed down its on-road track this past summer, there was no host for the race. Enter NORCAR at the Gate in Ohio, one of the premiere indoor tracks in the region, and their Halloween Classic. The race was designated as the first of the 2003-2004 U.S. Triple Crown series, and on October 24th, the indoor carpet season was officially underway!
RACE COVERAGE >>> Continuing our tradition of major race coverage, R/C Tech was onhand to provide round-by-round qualifying coverage and all the latest news from the pits. Among the big stories were Trinity's newest 12th scale entry, the new Schumacher MI2 prototype, and of course, just what perennial carpet racing mogul Josh Cyrul would do with his new free agent status.
Check out these pages for the final standings, qualifying postions from each round, and of course, tons of pictures from the track and the pits. You can also check out our official Halloween Classic discussion thread in the forums.
Note that there were no qualifying printouts available, so there is no round-by-round qualifying listed, although you will find some of our original updates in the discussion thread. The final qualifying positions are noted in each main listed below by the number following the finishing place.
